The Legacy Fall-Winter 2013

While Chocolate Avenue may not be paved with chocolate, it is lined with Hershey’s Kisses.The iconic Kiss streetlights were installed 50 years ago, in the fall of 1963, and were the brainchild of Samuel Hinkle, president of the Hershey Chocolate Corporation. The story of the origin of Hershey’s remarkable streetlights can be found in the Hershey Community Archives’ oral history collection.

Hershey’s Learn to Grow: Ghana Distance Learning Program”initiative was eagerly launched last fall thanks to several partners including The Hershey Company, Milton Hershey School, Cisco Systems, Source Trust and The Hershey Story. This initiative brought together fourth grade Milton Hershey School students and 11- and 12-year-old students from Assin Fosu, Ghana in a virtual classroom program.

This fall, The Hershey Story is proud to display artifacts from this founding museum collection in the special exhibit Indians and Animals: Sharing the Earth as Equals.
